18 Oct 07

Well... today was a long tough day. Carmen's health kinda took a nose dive in the early morning hours. I got the call at 5AM that they were unable to keep her oxygen % up even while using the ventilator. Here lungs are real stiff and they need a lot of pressure to inflate them. Anyway, the doctors were pretty pessimistic. She was unstable most of the morning. They switched her to a special ventilation machine normally used on infants. Carmen's parents arrived in 3 PM from Key West and she started to do better! Her oxygen % is in the 90s and stable.

She is putting up a great fight right now. All your thoughts and prayers must be helping!

I'll give you an update tomorrow.

    Carmen, Mike and Dominic,

My entire day is filled with prayers for all of you. Carmen, you are not done here, you have more life to live and a lot more people to love and be loved by. I can truly say that I have never met anyone quite like you....you have touched my heart, and I am afraid that I will never be able to tell you just how much you mean to me. I adore you, Mike and Dominic so much. I pray that God heals your body so that your heart and mind can continue to be you. I know that you are in the fight of your life right now, and have no fear that you will win.....I know how competitive that you are! Mike, you are a faithful and wonderfully devoted husband who will never know how much that Carmen loves you....I think we always hurt the ones that we love and take them for granted the most...but others see how much she loves you and how much you do for her! Thank you again for doing what you always do for her in this time....I pray that God gives you the strength that you need and the courage to continue to be the Mom and Dad while Carmen is fighting. You work selflessly and tirelessly because you love unconditionally. Carmen, you have so much love for people, as I go back and read some of your old blogs.....I don't think that you really know how important that you are to all of us in your life.....and, I know that you are not giving yourself enough credit in most areas....you are a wonderful Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, and to me Friend! Your laughter and smile are imbedded in my heart forever! All of my prayers are with you all right now, and I look to many more great years of laughter and tears with you!!!

    With all of my love!

Mike, thank you so much for your updates. I know it is asking a lot now, but do keep up when you can. Carmen is very proud of this blog and I have so much respect for all of you. Remember, I am a nurse and can read between the lines with a more clinical head. Carmen is being taken care of in an amazing way. She is in good hands, And God's hands. You take care of yourself, as well. We all need each other's strenght for her.

I am a friend of Rex and Rachel's from KY. I am praying for you all. I have put you all on my church and school prayer lists. I don't know you all, but do know that you are in my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

    Mike,
Chris and I have Carmen, you and D in our thoughts and especially our prayers. It is so hard for us to believe she is in such grave danger. We have a God who is merciful and will protect her and fight for her when she is too tired to fight herself. I know she is a strong woman and we believe she will overcome this obstacle. Please let her know how loved she is from the "Bauns" in Buffalo. Love to you all...

    Chris and Laurie :)
