Day 4, little better

Carmen's oxygen % was high all day, and they decided to try to give her a "Sedation Vacation" to ensure that her neurological status was still okay. It took awhile for her after 2 days of anesthesia to finally come out. Me and her dad Marty broken into tears when I told her to blink her eyes and she gave us a slight blink. When she finally woke up she startled Sharon who shoved Rex aka "Guy from the blog" out of the way on her way out the door. Marty was holding onto one of Carmen's hands while the nurse was holding the other. They asked her to squeeze her hands and she did. She also wiggled her toes when asked. Because she also was trying to breath against the machine, she was quickly sedated again. They are giving her less medication trying to "dial her in" to the right dose of sedation.

Special thanks to all of you reading this, all of you who have called or e-mailed, and all of you that are praying for us.

We came home from the hospital tonight to our house, with most of the grandparents here, Rex is here from Atlanta, and Candice is here, and we are eating, drinking wine, and telling stories. Sometimes laughter really is the best medicine.

I appreciate you all.

Thank you God, family, students, staff, Kiya (the dog), and friends for all the strength you have given her in your prayers, visits, and cards. I have known my girl for a little over a year now and she means so much to me than some people I've known for years. Her whole family has meant a lot to me too. So, keep the prayers circulating peeps. Mike, say hello to moms and pops and give them my love. Tell them I miss them and pray that their baby girl gets better. Tell Big D hugs and kisses are coming his way from the "Black Queen" so be ready! And Mike...you have been her "rock" so doing the blog thing is something she will incredibly appreciate. Love ya'll...

Michael, I just don't know how you do it. Carm and me discussed publishing her blog. You are the real strength of this family and I commend you. We are a tough group of women and Carmie is amazing. I told Raena exactly everything that would happen, and it DID. Remember, Mike, those people want to do good. Lucky Carmen, to have you. Thank you and God that you still keep us posted. Love all of you, can you tell Carm and Sharon, please? Be sure and tell Carmen.

Mike, thank you. I'll update my friends (who are now Carmen's friends as well) and hope the news continues to be positive.

If she's feeling well enough, please tell her Ann in Merced (Roc Rebel Granny) sends her love.

I prayed all night for Aunt Carmen and tried to send all of my love. I cannot wait to get a hug from her and give her kisses as we drink a bottle of fine wine. I miss her beautiful smile and I cannot wait to see it again. Tyson and I are constantly thinking about her and please let her know that Tyson still owes her a gourmet meal so she better get out of there ASAP!! Love you guys so much and give Dom a big hug for me
